Unless I'm mistaken I thought Jin's story line was a flashback, while
Sun's story was a flash forward. That would explain everything easily
without having to look into the little intricacies of time
differences.

That would mean that Jin doesn't make it off the island while Sun
does, maybe he dies while trying to help her get home, or something.

Don't listen to these people. This seaosn has brought all the losers
out. Jin's part was a flashabck when he was working for Sun's dad and
Sun's part was a flash forward. This is the first time so far that
both elements was been brought into the same episode. I thought it was
a great job and Sun explained to Hurley that she yelled out Jin's name
(instead of leaving us guessing what she meant when she was yelling
his name out) although it is sad to know that Jin didn't get off the
island alive. That isn't krunk.

actually you are close- Jins story was a flashforward while Suns story
was a flashback. Which means that Sun was giving birth to Jin and JIn
is his own grandfather.

That is right, and in the upcoming episode "The Grandfather Paradox"
Jin will travel back in time to kill himself...
