Discussion:
Rousseau and Jin

We have just recently seen the episode where Jin gets into
Rousseau's back story.

After viewing it, some days later, a scene flashed into my
mind from long ago. I just wonder if anyone can confirm it,
as I doubt it would be mentioned in any of the recap sites.
And, apologies if it has already been discussed.

So:- it occurs to me now, that when Rousseau first came
openly to the losties' beach camp, maybe some time in
season 2, she saw Jin walking on the beach, and gave him
a long, hard, searching stare, but no words were said.

Can anyone please confirm that this did actually occur?

If so, OC, this clearly refers to the fact that she saw him
several times back in her early days, and wasn't quite sure
if this was the same guy... ...after all, how could it be!

If all this is so, it shows remarkable foresight on the part
of the authors, and we wonders what other delayed time
bombs they've set for us!

The first time Danielle came to beach camp to warn the Lostaways the
Others were coming, Jin was on the raft with Sawyer and Mikey and
Walt, so there's no way she would've seen Jin.

The second time she came to beach camp, it was quietly in the night to
get Claire and Kate in order to find the DHARMA Staff Station and (she
was hoping) Alex, so there's no way she would've seen Jin then either.

I don't recall any such scene, but I could easily be mistaken.

The only two times I can definitely recall the two were in the same
vacinity at the same time were when Jack and she showed the Lostaways
the dynamite she took from the Black Rock to ambush the Others, and
when Locke and Jack were choosing up sides by the cockpit section of
815 early last season.

RWG (and both those times there were literally a dozen others mulling
about so there's a good chance they never really got all that close to
each other)

Looking back at synopses and things, I now think it was in
season 3, when Rousseau came back to the beach to prepare
to lead the losties to the radio tower, and the three chaps
(Jin, Sawyer, Rose'sRambo), were preparing to ambush
the others with dynamite in the tents. That was when
Rousseau got her first real look at Jin. I'm sure that's
when this look of half-recognition took place.

Will anyone with a copy of the episode please check it out and
see if I'm recalling it correctly? I would be very grateful.

If it IS so, it's not such a long-term easter egg as I'd thought,
but just a bit of careful preparation by the authors for the next
season coming. Still, good work by them though!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I just watched the episodes again via
ABC.com. The only people Danielle paid any attention to onscreen were
Claire and baby Aaron. Which is not to say that she didn't get a long
look at Jin, only that it never happened onscreen.

The scene goes this way - Danielle stares at Claire and Aaron. The
POV then switches to Jin/Sun as they say goodbye. Then the camera
pulls back to see JULIET staring at the Jin/Sun, obviously thinking
about Sun's unborn baby. All of these are obvious, given Danielle's
obsession with Aaron/Alex and Juliet's obsession with pregnant women
dying.

Given how these scenes occur so close together, I can easily see how
someone could get the shots mixed up in memory, especially given the
new information re: Jin/youngDanielle.

But the only time I could find that Danielle and Jin were even in the
same shot together during Season Three was when Danielle and Jack were
giving the dynamite demo, and even then it was a second at most and no
"flashes of recognition" one way or the other.

RWG (but the episode is on http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index?pn=index
if you want to check for yourself)
